Importing

Hi,

1. I want to import the CSV file in to DOORS using the DXL script.
2. How to compare the texts present in the CSV file with the objects present in the Current module.
3. After comparing then i need to update the object attribute values in the current module.
For example: In the CSV file if the Object type is updated as "Requirement" then i need to update the same in the current module also while importing.
4. I want DXL script for Each object text should contain the same text format.

Have you tried the DOORS Import Spreadsheet functionality? In module File / Import / Spreadsheet.

CSV format doesn't support bolding et tal and certainly doesn't support OLE diagrams. I think it can indeed be made to support special symbols.

It sounds like you export to excel with pretty formatting, DOORS averse folks are editing the text, and now you want to import it. I suppose the following is possible:

>> Export to Excel including the Object Identifier column.
>> Write a DXL script that opens the Excel file and uses OLE automation to read it row by row and column by column, figuring out what to do with each Cell.

Even so, OLE diagrams will be a problem as will the notion of End-Of-Lines inside a single cell (e.g. Object Text has more than one paragraph).

I think your folks just need to use DOORS, and only the awkward Export to Excel method to fill in the various attribute values.
